Gaelscoil Chluainín 07-08

Dear Parents,

Our first year in Gaelscoil Chluainín has been tremendously successful. Within only one year the pupils have become competent Irish speakers. This was plain to see from the wonderful exhibition they gave at the summer show.

The children were very active during the year. They stage two big shows. They took part in the Christmas party with Gaelscoil Liatroma and Gaelscoil Cnoc na Rae. They also formed the ‘Ecofloat’ in the St Patrick’s day Parade and did extremely well in Feis Shligigh. They had their own Halloween and Christmas party, they had a sports day and went on a school tour to the Marble Arch Caves & 7 pupils in second class celebrated the first ever Holy Communion ‘as Gaeilge’ in Manorhamilton.

They had great fun learning songs, whistle, dancing, yoga, swimming, bodhrán, computers, arts & crafts, not to mention all the schoolwork they did, through Irish!

This was due in no small amount to the excellent work done by our dedicated teachers Caitríona Ní Ghionáin and Searán Nic Eoin.

Onward – 08-09

We are delighted to welcome the Principal Sinéad Torsney, who has been on secondment, to her post in the school this September.

Some of you may have heard that Múinteoir Caitríona will not be staying on next year. While we are sorry to lose her, we thank her very much for her commitment to the school and wish her the very best in her new job.
We will now be advertising for another teacher and if we get 4 more enrollments we have the go ahead from the Department of Education to appoint a third teacher.

The school will be employing a special needs assistant and a resource teacher. They will both be starting in September 2008.
